Advanced Silver RO Replacement Filter Set

The Silver RO advanced replacement filter set has two main advantages over the standard Silver Replacement Filter Set:

  • The first stage filter is a 1-Micron Anti-bacterial Melted Spray cartridge, rather than the normal 1-micron Melted Spray cartridge. The Anti-Bacterial Melted Spray cartridges have a bacteriostatic function which helps to inhibit the growth of bacteria on the surface of the filter, helping to ensure healthier product water and a longer life span of the filter. 

 

  • Instead of the standard T33 Carbon Post filter, the set has a Silver Nano Carbon Post Filter which has an iodine rating of 1000mg/g, the standard filter set's carbon filters only have an iodine rating of 300mg/g. Essentially what this means is that this carbon filter is 3 times more effective at absorbing chlorine and organic molecules from the water at the same flow rate. The Carbon is also impregnated with silver Ions, which helps to prevent the growth of bacteria/organisms inside of the filter, helping to prevent bio-fouling and giving the filter a longer life span.  

 

Filter Description:

Stage 1: 1um (Micron) Anti-Bacterial Sediment Filter:This removes particles from the water down to 1 micron, the anti-bacterial cartridge also inhibits the growth of organisms on its surface giving it a longer life span.

Stage 2: Premium KDF Filter:This filter contains activated carbon mixed with KDF. The KDF has anti-bacterial properties and prevents the growth of bacteria within the filter, thus extending its life to twice that of standard activated carbon.

Stage 3: Pleated Filter (0.1 Micron):This is a physical barrier that will not allow bacteria to pass through. Pleated Filter has replaced the Ultra Filtration Membrane as it dramatically reduces flush times making the system quicker to install and easier to maintain 

Stage 4: RO Membrane (Not Included, Optional*)Removes Bacteria, Viruses, Heavy Metals, Pesticides, Herbicides, and Reduces the Mineral Content (TDS) by up to 96%. This filter has a lifespan of 2-3 years. This is an optional extra.

Stage 5: Silver Nano Carbon Post Filter (1000mg/g) Removes any smells or tastes left in the filtered water. It will also absorb the preservatives found in the RO membrane after new installs. The Carbon filter is impregnated with silver ions which will help to inhibit the growth of bacteria/organisms, preventing bio-fouling and giving the filter a longer life span.

Flushing the system:

This is done by running water through the system until the Ceramic dust cannot be detected in a sample glass of water. Please note if there is a white color to the water that settles out towards the top of the glass, this is most likely caused by tiny air bubbles in the water. This should subside over time as excess air in the system is removed. The air bubbles in the water will not affect the quality of your drinking water.


How to remove/replace your filter:

Start by unscrewing the filter housing from the filtration unit. This is done by rotating the filter housing in a clockwise direction (see diagram below). The filter housing will separate from the filtration unit, and you are now free to remove the filter cartridge from the filter housing. To replace your filter: insert the new filter into the filter housing. Be sure to remove any protective plastic wrapping from the filter cartridge before placing them into the filter housing. Check that the black rubber O-rings are in place and fit well on the filter housing. If they seem perished or lose you may want to purchase new O-rings to ensure a good seal. As an option you can add a little bit of Vaseline on the O-rings to make them seal better, this will make it easier to open next time. Take note of the single rubber seal on the one side of the Premium KDF and Ceramic cartridges. These will need to face upwards to connect and seal at the top of the filter housing. It is important that this is done correctly as the system will not work optimally if the filters are installed incorrectly. Now that your filter is in the housing, bring the housing to the filtration unit and begin to screw the two together. This is done by rotating the filter housing in an anti-clockwise direction. We recommend you tighten by hand as this is usually sufficient to maintain a good seal. If however, leaks are detected, the housing spanner can be used to tighten the filter housings until a good seal is achieved. (Check O-rings are correctly in position before tightening with the spanner) Please take care not to over-tighten the filter housings. This could strip the housing thread and cause your system to fail. It will also make it more difficult to replace filters in the future if they are over-tightened.

 

How to Change the T33 Cartridge:

With these cartridges you will have one of two connectors used; the Jaco Connectors, which unscrew, much like your standard hose pipe fittings. And the Quick Connectors, use a small blue safety clip to keep the pipe in place. The cartridge connector may vary from time to time due to product availability at different suppliers. So you may find yourself with a cartridge that has different connectors to your current setup. Do not fret, they are both compatible with the flex-hose used on the RO Systems. If you have a different connector on your new cartridge, you may remove the old connector from the old cartridge, and fit them to the new cartridge. This is a simple process of unscrewing the old connector and screwing it onto the new cartridge. Thread Sealing tape is a must when refitting connectors. This tape is available at most hardware stores. Once you have your desired connectors installed you can now assemble the system. With Jaco fittings the “Nut” is placed over the hose, the hose is inserted into the connector, then the “nut” is pulled towards the connector over the hose and screwed tightly. With the quick connectors, the blue clip is removed to allow the hose to be inserted or removed. Once the clip is off, you can push the hose into the connector. You should feel the hose slide in slightly at first, this is only in halfway, more pressure must be applied to the hose to test it fully in the connector. Once the hose is pushed into the connector tightly, the blue safety clip can be replaced. Please take note of the blue safety clips position on the connector. It must sit behind the movable part of the connector. This will secure your hose. If you have trouble fitting the hose into the connectors, this could be caused by previous connectors having damaged the hose. Simply cut the hose so that the end does not display any signs of use. This should aid in installation.
